When i arrived in Valencia, it was late at night - i had been travelling all day from Malaga & Madrid. You can do 2 express trains (7 hours) or an 11 hour bus ride from Malaga (south of Granada) because the SierrA Nevada is just so friggin´huge!
.. i came out of the train station & arrived smack bang in the middle of the ¨Las Fallas¨(St Jose) festival. I even made it onto spanish tv - me & my 11 kilo back pack were seen trying to get across the street in front of a procession of floats, spanish senoritas, marching bands & huge effigies.
The effiges & images or people & animals are placed all through the streets & on the last night ( which i wont see) - they set fire to them. Oh & there are the most amazing fireworks for half an hour everynight from 1 am during the festivak. they even had a small fireworks session during the day. I can get over it! There are just people every where! Little kids as young as 5, are given bungers & crackers by their parents & they just throw them in the street, everywhere! The whole place smells like gunpowder - small explosions go off every few minutes..its like some mexican fiesta or a gunfight at the OK Corral. This time i had trouble locating the hostel. Its brand new.. the street is one of the main streets but not well sign posted & i spent 2 hours around the street at night looking for this infamous no.36!
Have had a good time there & shared a room with some aussie girls. Both nights went out partying with people from the hostel & have made some new friends from the U.S. & Germany.
So yes, i just stay in crowds now & dont talk much to the locals unless i need to now.
So today im in Barcleona..looking forward to a new day of exploration.. the Gaudi arthouse, the picasso museum, Las Ramblas & the beaches. I have everything locked up as Barcelona is bad for thieves. The streets are so narrow & curve around so a bit confusing. Have a good one & i will take care! Ive been trying to send photos but the files are too large. Today im sooo hungover on sangria.
Went out with the girls in our hostel tour. They took us to a tapas bar, we drank sangria, we went to a flamenco show & then later a salsa club!! The girls watched as i danced SALSA with the best of them!! They were saying ¨Lisa, thats so cool¨. hehe it was nice. OK..talk soon & will keep u posted! IG Miss u sooo much DB. hola amigos!
