you took the words right out of my mouth Mellipop.
We should be encouraging people to 'get off thier FAT arses' and do somethging about it. I smoke a pack a day and havent seen a doctor for 11 years. Diet and exercise are essential to being healthy. At 36 I'm still fitter than most 20 year olds I know.
I know smoking isn't good for me but lack of exercise or poor diet are a much greater health risk. I'm afraid computer games and tv are not helping our kids develop a healthy active life style. I predict in 10 more years we'll see an epidemic of fatso's cluttering up our health system.
I have to stop here or i'll rant for hours.
 Thanks, Eternal Al

Here here!!!!!

Four words. Eat sensibly and exercise.

Talk about us smokers being a burden on the health system... At least we don't take up extra space on public transport...

I have this idea, right, which I believe is eminently fair. I think that clothing should be priced according to SIZE. The bigger the size, the higher the cost. Larger sizes require more raw material to make. This should be reflected in the cost. A "fat tax", if you will. That'll make the buggers try and lose the weight. If you could save a few bucks by being a size 8....

I know that this, and your rant is not all PC. But you can't tell me that every fat person is purely the result of "hormone imbalances" or other so called "organic" or "genetic" reasons. How about Accountability. Discipline. Self-respect.

I hit the scales at 61kg a few weeks back and the clothes were getting a bit tight. Not a heifer, by any stretch of the imagination, but more than I should be for my height. It was enough to decide that I was going to do something about it. Bran cereal, plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, running 40 minutes at least 5 times a week, 50 - 100 push ups a day. Cutting out junk food. I'm back down to 58kg and aiming for about 55. Plus, I feel great.

I've actually been doing the fruit thing for a few months now - a conscious decision about what I was putting in my body. And now its become an ingrained habit. First year I can remember that I didn't get the flu.

Geez...what a rant..... Thanks for that endlessly fascinating insight Mellipop....
