Only just caught up on this - thanks for your comments, Pete. One of the hardest things has been trying to decide where to pitch the user interface design. Too complex, and it risks being just like any other 3D animation package. Too simple, and it risks being too dumbed down to do anything with.

My personal benchmark is "can my kids use it without me having to show them how it works" and "can I make the movies I want to make without feeling patronised". That, I hope, gets the right sort of balance.

A interesting piece, and a great retort to Mike's (slightly devil's advocate) comparison of Moviestorm and Antics.

In reference to your post-script, and in fairness to Mike, I should point out that he's by no means in favour of high-cost traditional tools over low-cost or open-source alternatives. In fact, he's one of the most vocal admirers of the open-source scriptwriting and pre-production software, Celtx, which he regularly recommends over the industry-standard (and darned expensive) Final Draft.

This is not to invalidate the points you make here, which are all excellent (and very much appreciated).
