- Kill Yoda - Video
- The Brief
- The Execution
Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith posits the question "What if Darth Vader were just a good person, driven to do evil by circumstance ?". But what if you took that a step further - what if Darth Vader were completely the innocent victim ? That's the question I tried to explore here.
This was made on a whim at the start of 2008, after I bought the Star Wars DVD's and decided to cut together a homage to one of my other favourite directors, Quintin Tarantino.
I first ripped the source footage from the relevant DVD's, and the music from the Kill Bill soundtrack on CD. This was then brought into Ulead Video Studio, where I tried to match both the shot order and sonic cues (via extra sounds brought in through Audacity) of the original Kill Bill trailer.
The idea was to match the mood and pacing of a typical Tarantino film (and the Kill Bill trailer), while giving it a decidely 'Star Wars' bent. Font choices were made to replicate the font used in the original trailer, and the footage was cut to paint Darth Vader in the typical "good protagonist, driven to extract revenge through the miseries he's suffered" mould.
The final video was converted to AVI and uploaded to Youtube, and can be watched at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBHGzV0Skdw
