- The Execution
After designing the IANA Logo in early 2008, it seemed like a real 'waste' to discard all the early experiments I'd made in progressing to the final logo. I therefore felt inspired to design a useable, working, custom typeface for myself based on those early 'experimental' interations of the IANA anagram.
Using my IANA Illustrator files as a starting point, I tried to come up with compatible letter forms along the same lines for the remaining twenty three letters of the alphabet. Ultimately this resulted in two lots of variations (mapped to upper and lower case of the character set) for many letters - a 'more abstract' version, and a 'more legible' version.
In both cases the letter forms were created in Illustrator, then exported individually as EPS, brought into Fontforge (a wonderful, open-source, free application to rival Fontographer), and the glyphs cleaned up.
Once finished the font was generated in TTF format (both WIN & MAC compatible), and made available for download on my personal website.
